Ambien (Zolpidem) is perfectly good for the treatment of short-term sleeplessness periodically observed for certain reasons. In contrast to numerous analogs, it doesn’t cause drowsiness during the day, nightmares and addiction, it is safe for an organism and characterized by mild action.
To provide the proper effect of Ambien, it is important to strictly follow all instructions on the drug use.
For most people 10mg of Ambien is enough to get rid of sleeplessness. If Ambien effect is not good, this dose can be increased by 5-10mg, but not over. For senior people suffering from liver disorder, it is recommended to start the treatment with Ambien from half-dose (5mg) and if required to increase it to 10mg. In liver disorder a daily dose of 10mg Ambien is not recommended to exceed.
Ambien is taken at bedtime as it starts to works very quickly. For the best absorption a tablet should be taken with a glass of water.
If Ambien is taken for over 7 days it is better not to cease suddenly the treatment. It is recommended to reduce a dose gradually within 2-3 days. In this case the risk to observe sleeplessness again is minimal.
It is important to avoid Ambien interaction with other hypnotic medications. This is a drastic medication to provide a good effect, and if take two different hypnotic medications simultaneously, there is a big risk of different adverse side-effects and even overdose symptoms because they may increase action of each other.
If take Ambien strictly as recommended and not to exceed it, sleeplessness will pass soon, and the drug won’t cause any side-effects.
